MacBook Skins — Air and Pro Lid Fit and Finishes

MacBook skins refresh the lid without adding bulk. Some are pre-cut for specific Air or Pro models; others are universal sheets you trim yourself. Confirm the exact inch size and generation — a 13.6-inch Air skin will not fit a 14-inch Pro lid. Measure the closed lid width × height, not the advertised screen size, and leave clearances for the camera and logo area if needed. MacBook Air skins
For M2/M3/M4 13.6″ and 15″ Air models, use the dedicated MacBook Air skins hub. Match chip year and lid footprint; older 13″ Air cuts often miss the notch housing.
MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ skins
Pro lids differ from Air. Start with MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ guidance, measure the flat aluminium panel, and never stretch a smaller sheet to fit a larger Pro.
How to find your exact model and measure
Use About This Mac for year and chip, then measure closed-lid width × height in cm and inches. Screen diagonal is not enough for either Air or Pro.
Pre-cut vs universal sheet
Pre-cut packs name a specific MacBook generation and usually include camera/logo cutouts. Universal sheets need a trim margin and careful dry-fit. Vague “fits MacBook 13” listings should be treated as universal.
Camera, logo and hinge caveats
Keep the notch clear. Do not force vinyl into hinge gaps. Decide whether the Apple logo should show through before you buy translucent or patterned film.
Finish advice for aluminium MacBooks
Aluminium takes matte vinyl cleanly. Gloss shows colour strongly but fingerprints more. For calm desks, prefer soft solids or quiet nature prints over thick textured “carbon” sheets.
