Best Laptop Skins for 2-in-1 Convertibles UK 2026 (Yoga, Envy x360, Inspiron)

Two-in-ones fold all the way back. That one hinge changes which skin you should buy, because in tablet mode the lid presses flat against the keyboard deck — and anything stuck to the palm rest ends up grinding against the screen. Most "universal 11.6–15.6 inch" sets are printed for a standard clamshell and never mention it. Here is what actually works on a Lenovo Yoga, HP Envy x360, Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 or Surface Laptop.

What to cover, and what to leave bare

The lid is safe. Vinyl on the outside of the lid has no moving part to foul and does not touch the hinge barrel, provided you stop 3–5 mm short of the edge. Convertible lids are usually brushed aluminium with a slight curve, and vinyl does not like being wrapped around a curve — trimming inside the edge keeps it flat and stops the corners lifting after a month.

Leave the screen and bezel alone. On a touchscreen the bezel carries the small rubber bumpers that stop the panel meeting the deck when closed. A sticker laid over them changes that gap, and on an expensive Yoga that is not a risk worth taking for a design nobody sees.

The wrist-rest pieces are the part to think about. Every set below includes two. On a clamshell they are harmless. On a convertible a 0.2 mm sticker under your palms adds thickness exactly where the screen lands in tablet mode. If your hinge shuts with less than about 5 mm of clearance, fit the lid piece only and keep the palm pieces in the drawer — or cut them 10 mm narrower so they sit clear of the keys.

Three sets that work on a convertible

All three are the same format: one large sheet plus two wrist pieces, matte PVC, removable, cut for 12–15.6 inch lids. That range covers a 13.3 inch Yoga 6, a 14 inch Envy x360 and a 15.6 inch Inspiron 2-in-1, with trimming for the smaller ones.

1. SUPERDANT Color Blocks & Leaves

A muted block-and-leaf print that suits an office laptop better than a gaming one, and at 38 × 27 cm the sheet is big enough for a 15.6 inch lid with room to trim.

2. Colourful Paintings

A proper full-bleed print rather than a small motif in the middle of a white sheet, so the whole lid ends up covered instead of just the middle third. Two wrist pads included. The vinyl is thin enough that it follows the lid's slight curve at the edges without a heat gun.

3. Blue Mandala

The one to pick if the laptop is shared or lives in a living room — a symmetrical mandala hides fingerprints and small scuffs far better than a pale or pattern-free design. Same 12–15.6 inch cut, same two wrist pads.

Fitting it without ruining the fold

Work lid-first, and test before you commit. Clean the lid with a microfibre cloth and a drop of isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, then position the sheet dry — no water, no squeegee — starting at the hinge edge and working outwards. Our no-bubbles application guide covers the technique in detail.

Then close the laptop and flip it through tent mode and tablet mode before burnishing anything down. If the screen touches the palm pieces, peel back and trim. Vinyl that has not been pressed flat can be lifted and repositioned; vinyl that has been burnished cannot. If a corner does lift later, the fix is a 20-second blast with a hairdryer, not more pressure — see why skin edges peel.

What to avoid

Hard snap-on shells add 2–3 mm to the lid and can foul the hinge once the screen rotates past 180 degrees. "Full body" wraps that include pieces for the hinge barrel are worse — the barrel is the one part of a 2-in-1 that has to stay bare. And skip high-gloss film if you actually use the touchscreen: it shows every fingerprint within a day with nothing underneath to hide them.

Bottom line

Buy a normal 12–15.6 inch set, fit the lid, and treat the wrist pieces as optional. There is no such thing as a "2-in-1 specific" skin — nobody prints one — so the trick is fitting a standard set properly rather than paying a premium for a label. The full shop has universal sets that fit and the rest of the designs.
